Modern and avant-garde building, its design simulates a lotus flower and forms an ensemble with the office building across the street. Both were designed by the architect Toyo Ito, winner of the Pritzker Prize, along with the entrance to the new space of the Fira de Barcelona.

In 2010 it received the award as the best skyscraper in the world.

The design of its rooms, lounges and common areas, follows the same criteria of the building, having managed to capture that modern spirit inside the hotel.
